4.1.3 Management Services

For easier maintenance, SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) and remote syslog services are provided in NP725.

ƒVLAN for Management: The management traffic from the device can be tagged with VLAN ID. If the option is enabled, the VLAN ID can be chosen from 1 to 4094.

ƒSNMP Configuration: By enabling SNMP service, the remote SNMP manager could obtain NP725’s system status.

o Community String: Specify the password for Read and Write.

o Trap: Enable or Disable the feature. When enabled, its reported event will be sent to assigned management station with specified Server IP Address.

ƒSyslog Configuration: By enabling this service, specify a remote syslog server which could accept syslog messages from NP725 remotely. By reading the syslog message in the remote server, the administrator can review activities of all installed NP725s in the network.

o Server Port: Port of the server.

o Log Level: Select desired level of received events.
