12.Enter an IP Address and Subnet Mask; defining the address that the mainframe will use to communicate with the server (Figure 5-21). Note that the mainframe IP address and this address must be in the same subnet. Also remember that if Microsoft IP forwarding is to be used in the server, this IP address must be in a different subnet than the LAN adapter(s) that Windows NT is to route between.
Generally, there is no need to enter a Default Gateway since this is a point-to- point connection. However, in some environments it may be necessary to specify the mainframe’s IP address as the default gateway.
