Wireless Ad-HocNetworks

Wireless ad-hoc networks, also known as peer-to-peer or independent networks, do not include Access Points. Instead, the ad-hoc network is a loose association, or workgroup, of computers that can communicate with each other using the PC Card in Ad-Hoc Mode.

Figure 2-2shows a network in which three Ethernet Adapter units are used to provide wireless connectivity between Ethernet devices.

In this configuration, the Ethernet Adapter units and PC cards make all four devices appear to be connected by the same Ethernet cable. Using Ethernet Adapter units in this manner provides a cost effective way to wirelessly link a small number of Ethernet devices.
