7. Application Examples

Modbus gateways can be used to integrate Modbus networks in a wide variety of settings. But as each setting has its own requirements, users may not understand how a gateway helps, or if it’s appropriate for their specific needs.

The following scenarios are examples only, and many others are possible. Contact B&B Electronics technical support for information on other applications.

From Serial Master to Modbus Gateway, Slave IDs Configurable

4. The original system consists of Gateways controlling serial slave devices:

The MESR Modbus gateway module connects serial slaves, so Ethernet SCADA masters can control these. As slave IDs must be unique in a single system, these must be changed to have them function on one network:
