Installing A Non-Redundant Power Supply

CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.

1.Unpack the new non-redundant power supply unit.

2.Open the system.

3.Slide the new power supply into the chassis until the screw hole on the power supply unit aligns with the standoff on the chassis.

4.Tighten the screw to secure the power supply to the standoff on the chassis.

5.Connect the power cable to the power supply.

6.Connect the power distribution cables to the system board, and the hard-drive backplane.

NOTE: Route the hard-drive backplane power cable through the FAN1 slot's fan blank.

7.Close the system.

8.Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on, including any attached peripherals.

Removing The Redundant Power Supply Unit Divider

1.Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and peripherals

2.Disconnect the power cable from the power source and the power supplies, and remove the cables from the strap.

3.Remove the redundant power supplies.

4.Open the system.

5.Remove the screw securing the redundant power supply unit divider to the power supply unit cage.

6.Slide the redundant power supply unit divider out, push it down, and slide it out of the power supply unit cage.
