Anorderedcollectionofinformation.Inaspecificcase,itistheinformationprocessed byacomputer.

DATA SEPARATOR

Anelectroniccircuitwhichdecodesplaybackdataandproducesseparateclockanddata bits.Sometimesincorrectlyusedtodenotedatasynchronizer.

DATA SYNCHRONIZER

ERROR RECOVERY PROCEDURE

Theprocessthatoccursinresponsetoadataerror.InadrivewithoutECC,this wouldincludere-calibrationandre-seekingtothespecifiedtrackandrereadingthe specifieddata.

EXTRA PULSE

Termusedinsurfacecertification.Itiswhenafluxfielddiscontinuityremainsafterthe recordingsurfaceiserased,therebyproducinganelectricaloutputofareadhead passingovertheareawiththediscontinuity.Anextrapulseoccurswhentheelectrical outputislargerthanaspecifiedthreshold.

FEEDBACK

Inaclosed-loopsystem,theoutputsignal(fromtheservohead)isusedtomodifythe inputsignal(tothepositioner).
