Example: The following example will help you set your subwoofer’s room compensation switch properly.

Let’s say your theater room measures 16 feet wide, by 21 feet long, by 8 feet tall with a small 10 feet by 7 feet wide opening.

Calculate Room Volume:

16ft X 21ft X 8ft = 2688ft3 (plus 5% for the opening)

Determine Room Compensation Location:

2822.4ft3 = >2400ft3 = LARGE

The below graph depicts the above example and the results that you would ex- pect to achieve. The blue trace is with the Room Comp knob set to BYPASS and the red trace is the Room Comp knob set to LARGE. As you can see the Room Compensation knob allows the subwoofer to produce a more linear response.
