Upgrading Software

Software Already Installed

The Alteon Web switch is provided with the software installed and configured with the factory default settings. For more information, refer to the Web OS software manuals.

TFTP Download Through CLI

Following are outlines of TFTP downloading Web OS software. For details, refer to the Web OS software manuals.

1.Back up the current Web OS configuration to a file.

2.Perform a TFTP download of the Web OS software code onto the selected switch soft- ware image.

3.Reboot the switch with the selected switch software image.

Serial Upgrade

NOTE Serial upgrade is performed through the Console port of the Web switch.

A serial upgrade will erase the current configuration and reconfigure the switch to its factory default settings. It is recommended that you save the current configuration before attempting a serial upgrade.

1.Back up the current Web OS configuration to a file.

2.Perform a serial download of the Web OS image.

3.Reboot the Web switch.
