AMPLIFIER SETTINGS

Stereo / Mono Input Configuration

The STEREO / MONO switch allows the Orion 2002 and 3002 amplifiers to use a single RCA or high-level input to feed signal to both the right and left channels of the amplifier.

When the switch is to the right (MONO position), signal from the left input is routed to the right channel. This is the preferred mode when bridging the amplifier into a single speak- er. When the switch is to the left (STEREO position), right and left inputs are independent. This allows a source unit with an internal balance to change the stereo imaging.

Internal Crossover Configuration

The Orion 2002 and 3002 amplifiers use a multi-position switch to determine the crossover configuration. The multi-position switch is located on the adjustment side of the amplifier. Listed below are the switch positions and their respective crossover configurations.

When the switch is to the left (FULL position), the crossover section of the amplifier is bypassed. Amplifier output is full range. When the switch is in the center (HIGH position), the crossover is configured for high-pass operation. The crossover is fixed at 100Hz at 12dB per octave. When the switch is to the right (LOW position), the crossover is configured for low-pass operation. The crossover is fixed at 100Hz at 12dB per octave.

Input Gain

The Orion 2002 and 3002 amplifiers have gain adjustments with an input sensitivity range from 200mV up to 5V on the RCA inputs and 1V to 10 on the high-level inputs. This allows easy integration from any source unit either with RCA outputs or speaker outputs. Refer to the Testing the System and the Adjusting the Sound of the System sections for detailed instructions on setting up the level controls.

INTELLi Bass Control

INTELLi Bass maximizes the performance of a subwoofer. INTELLi Bass allows for continuous adjustment of low frequency boost. INTELLi Bass is a variable Q and variable frequency low frequency boost. INTELLi Bass can be adjusted from 0dB of boost to 10dB of boost centered at 45Hz. Initially the Q is very low. As INTELLi Bass is added, the Q becomes sharper. This allows the Orion 2002 and 3002 to overcome acoustic deficiencies in your vehicle. The type of enclosure used, the sub-woofer's excursion capability, personal preference, and attitude determine acceptable boost levels.

WARNING! Exercise caution when setting INTELLi Bass. Maximum boost can potentially cause woofer damage due to overexcursion.
