1.5 Precautions when using

1.5.1Daily use

Observe the following insturctions during daily use of this equipment.

WARNING

Turn off the power if there is smoke, unusual odor, excessive heat, or damage.

Do not block the ventilation port.

If the ventilation ports are blocked, heat cannot escape and fire may occur due to overheating. When there is a need for repair, contact the Toshiba service desk.

Do not touch the C2 module when the power is on. The heat radiating side covers become extremely hot (ambient temperature+25oC) when power is on. It cools (ambient temperture+10oC) in 10 minutes when the power is turned off.

1.5.2When turning Off the Power

Important

After turning off the power, wait at least 5 seconds before turning on the power. Faulty operation may occur if you do not wait 5 seconds.

If an application program is running, quit the program to return to the operating system (OS).

1.5.3About the Hard Disk Drive

Important

• Do not apply shock or vibration to the equipment when the power is on.

The read/write head of the hard disk drive is at a data area even when the HDD lamp is off.

Wait at least 30 seconds after turning off the power before moving the equipment. The read/write head of the hard disk drive retracts automatically when the equipment power is turned off. However, it takes approximately 30 seconds for the hard disk to stop rotating.

The shock may damage the data area.

Always turn off the power before removing/installing the hard disk drive.

Failure to do so can cause malfunction of the drive.
