Some Cable Modem ISP’s such as the @Home network require the Host Name field to be used. If you not sure, contact your ISP to make sure you are inputting the correct values. Enable the Renew IP Forever checkbox if you want your IP address renewed each time it expires even if the system is idle.

After you have input all of the correct values, click Save and reboot your Broadband Router for the changes to take affect.

PPPover Ethernet

The PPP over Ethernet field should be checked if your ISP uses the

Point-to-Point over Ethernet protocol to authenticate a username and password and then automatically assign you an IP Address. PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) is a non-standard method of connecting to your ISP to gain an IP address. It relies upon a software client that is provided by the ISP. If you have a broadband connection and have to login to your provider
