WINDOWS 8 UPGRADE HARDWARE INFORMATION

TOSHIBA has tested the following hardware for upgrade to Windows 8. The results of TOSHIBA testing produced the following step‐by‐step installation instructions for upgrading this hardware to Windows 8. This documentation applies specifically to this hardware and is not applicable to any other TOSHIBA hardware.

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster

RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32‐bit) or 2 GB (64‐bit)

Hard disk space: 16 GB (32‐bit) or 20 GB (64‐bit)

Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver

The Windows 8 upgrade process will completely halt if any one of the Windows 8 minimum system requirements is not met.

Additional requirements to use certain features:

To use touch, you need a tablet or a monitor that supports multitouch.

To access the Windows Store and to download and run apps, you need an active Internet connection and a screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768.

To snap apps, you need a screen resolution of at least 1366 x 768.

TOSHIBA recommends that the following steps be taken before beginning the upgrade.

Back Up Your Personal Data and Recovery Data

Personal Data Backup

1.Click the Start button

2.Click Control Panel

3.Click System and Security

4.Click Backup your computer

5.Click Back up files or Set up backup, and then follow the steps in the wizard. Administrator permission is required. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
