Internal Components

Your 5000 Series computer is constructed with an Easy Access panel. This design makes accessing the internal parts easy.

Warning

Failure to disconnect the power from the computer may result in personal injury.

m Caution: Before working with the components inside the computer, you must ground yourself and the equipment to prevent damage to the parts from static electricity. To discharge any static buildup, touch a metal part of the computer chassis before touching any internal parts.

The screw(s) securing the side access panel are for shipping purposes only and do not need to be replaced.

Accessing Internal Computer Components (5000 Series)

1.Remove any diskette or compact discs (CDs) from the computer.

2.To shut down your computer, click the Start button, and then click Turn Off Computer. The Turn Off Computer dialog box is displayed. Select Turn Off to turn the computer off.

3.Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet and computer.

4.Disconnect all peripheral device cables from the computer.

5.Remove the screw(s) securing the side access panel.

6.Locate the latch directly below the screw, pull the latch down, and hold it in the down position.

7.Grasp the indented hand-hold and slide the side panel from the chassis.

8.Turn the computer on its side with the open side facing up.
