To select the next or previous chapter/play list during playback

Press ¢ to skip to the next chapter (if a play list is divided into chapters) or to the next play list.

Press 4 to return to the beginning of the current chapter/play list.

Press 4 repeatedly to skip back to the previous chapter/play list.

Various speed playback

To advance or reverse playback rapidly

During playback, press ¡ or 1.

You can select from 1.5 times, 5 times, 20 times and 60 times normal speed.

When you select 1.5 times normal speed playback, the disc is played back with sound.

To advance or reverse playback at 5 times normal speed Hold down ¢ or 4.

To play back in forward slow motion

First press 8 to enter the pause mode, and then press ¡. The forward slow motion playback will be activated. You can select from 1/32 times, 1/16 times, 1/4 times and 1/2 times normal speed.

NOTE

The actual playback speed may be different from the speed shown on the TV screen, depending on the recording condition.

To start playback of the desired play list

Press one of the numeric buttons to specify number of the desired play list.

Repeat playback

To repeat title or play list

During playback, press REPEAT.

Each time you press REPEAT, one of the following repeat mode is selected.

For original playback

PG: Repeats the current title.

ALL: Repeats all titles on the disc.

OFF: Deactivates the repeat mode.

For playback by play list

PL: Repeats the current play list.

OFF: Deactivates the repeat mode.

A window which indicates the current repeat mode will be displayed on the TV screen. The mode indication on the window is same as the one on the menu bar.

On the display window, the following indication appears: 1: When “PG” or “PL” repeat mode is selected.

: When “ALL” repeat mode is selected.

To stop repeat playback

Press REPEAT to select “OFF.”

Alternatively, press 7 to stop playback.

The repeat mode will be deactivated.

NOTE

You can change the repeat mode using the menu bar.

First bring up the menu bar (see page 24), then follow the steps described on page 26.

Changing the sound

The audio selection setting allows you to change the audio track(s) to be played back from among stereo, L (left channel) and R (right channel).

1 During playback, press AUDIO - fs/Rate.

The audio selection window appears on the TV screen.

2 Press 5/or AUDIO - fs/Rate to select the desired audio.

3 Press ENTER.

You can hear the selected audio.

The audio selection window is dismissed.

NOTE

In order that the player outputs only the L (left) channel or the R (right) channel audio signal of a bi-lingual disc from the DIGITAL OUT (either OPTICAL or COAXIAL) jack, set [DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT] in the [AUDIO] preference display to [PCM ONLY].

Turning on/off the subtitle

You can turn on or off the subtitle recorded on a VR format disc.

1 During playback, press SUBTITLE.

The subtitle selection window appears on the TV screen.

OFF

ON

2 Press 5/or SUBTITLE to select [ON] or [OFF].

3 Press ENTER.

The subtitle is turned on or off, according to the selection you made at step 2.

The subtitle selection window is dismissed.

Special picture and sound effects

During playback of a VR format disc, you can zoom in pictures, adjust the picture character using the VFP (Video Fine Processor) function, and simulate surround sound using the 3D PHONIC function, just in the same manner as for DVD VIDEO discs.
