Making fine tuning for your speakers

You can make fine tuning to match your speaker system.

Preparation

Set [ANALOG OUT] in the [AUDIO] preference display to [MULTI CHANNEL] and [MODE] in the [SPK.SETTING] preference display to [EXPERT].

To set the speaker sizes and the BASS REDIRECT function

Bring up the SPK.SETTING menu.

to [SIZE] and press

 

ENTER.

 

The [SIZE] display page appears on the TV screen.

3 Press 5/to select the speaker to be set and press ENTER.

FRONT SPEAKER:

front speakers

CENTER SPEAKER:

center speakers

SURROUND SPEAKER:

surround (rear) speakers

4 Press 5/to select the size and press

ENTER.

LARGE: large speaker(s) which can fully reproduce the low- frequency range.

SMALL: small speaker(s) which cannot fully reproduce the low-frequency range.

NONE: no speaker(s) connected.

5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 if you want to set other speakers.

When you use the small speakers which do not fully reproduce the low-frequency range, you can boost up the low-frequency signal of the subwoofer or front speakers by setting the BASS REDIRECT function.

To set the BASS REDIRECT function, go to step 6.

6 Press 5/to select [BASS REDIRECT] and press ENTER.

7 Press 5/to select [SUB WOOFER] or [FRONT L/R] and press ENTER.

SUB WOOFER: The low-frequency signal fed from the subwoofer output is boosted up.

FRONT L/R: The low-frequency signals fed from the front speaker outputs are boosted up. No audio is output from the subwoofer.

To return to the [SPK.SETTING] page

Press 5/to move to [RETURN] and press ENTER.

NOTES

The [BASS REDIRECT] setting is effective only when at least any one of the speaker sizes is set to [SMALL].

No audio is output from the SUBWOOFER jack when [FRONT L/R] is selected.

If the front speaker size is set to [SMALL], the [BASS REDIRECT] setting is fixed to [SUB WOOFER].

During playback of a DVD AUDIO, audio signal may not be output correctly depending on the conditions of the player or the disc itself.

To set the delay time

When playing in multi-channel mode and the speakers cannot all be located an equal distance from the listener, this setting can compensate for the difference between the distance from the front speakers (left, right) to the listener, and the distance from the center speaker and the surround speakers to the listener. Check the difference in the distance between the listener and the front speakers (left, right), and the distance between the listener and the other speakers, and then set that value as described in the procedure below.

4 Press 5/to select the appropriate distance and press ENTER.

When you select [CENTER SPEAKER], you can select the appropriate distance from [0.0m] to [1.5m] in 30 cm (1 ft) units.

When you select [SURROUND SPEAKER], you can select the appropriate distance from [0.0m] to [4.5m] in 30 cm (1 ft) units.

5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 if you want to set other speakers.
