When playing activates the output when the 596 plays a video disc or is put into setup, and it remains active until the 596 is put into standby.

By Source activates the output for sources which have the SCART switch option set to On in the Source configuration menu. This allows you to set up a separate CD source which does not affect the television or monitor. For more information see To set configuration options, page 53.
