ADDITIONAL MENU OPERATIONS

Follow “Connecting Speakers/Amplifier” on page 37 to con- nect the speakers and amplifier, then set the functions de- pending on the connection states.

When connecting an Audio system (Front speakers/Am- plifier):

Perform the “Setting the SPEAKER function” and “Setting the PRO LOGIC 3D-PHONIC function”.

When connecting Surround speakers:

Perform the “Setting the DOLBY PRO LOGIC function”.

When connecting both an Audio system (Front speakers/ Amplifier) and Surround speakers:

Perform the “Setting the SPEAKER function” and “Setting the DOLBY PRO LOGIC function”.

Note:

The ￿ buttons of the TV remote control and the ￿ (volume) buttons at the front panel of your TV set can be used to control the volume of each speaker simultane- ously.

The settings of the TV speakers on each menu are relat- ed, if you change one of them the others will change au- tomatically.

Setting the volume of the amplifier too high may damage the front speakers.

When the PRO LOGIC 3D-PHONIC function is operating, the front speakers and TV speakers are used simultaneously. The TV speakers take the role of a centre speaker. It makes spoken dialogues more vivid and easier to listen to.

Preparation:

If you have had the headphones connected to your TV set, disconnect them.

1.Press the ￿ button to display the MENU (main menu).

2.Press the ￿buttons to choose DIGITAL SURROUND. Then press the ￿ button to display the DIGITAL SURROUND menu.

3.Press the ￿buttons to choose PRO LOGIC 3D-PHONIC. Then press the ￿ but- ton to display the sub-menu of PRO LOGIC 3D-PHONIC function.

Turn off the SPEAKER function so that TV speakers will not issue any sound.

Preparation:

Press the ￿button to choose “SURROUND OFF”, then turn off the surround function.

1.Press the ￿ button to display the MENU (main menu).

2.Press the ￿ buttons to choose SOUND SETTING. Then press the ￿ button to dis- play the SOUND SETTING menu.

The SOUND SETTING menu appears.

3.Press the ￿ buttons to choose SPEAK- ER. Then press the ￿buttons to choose OFF.

The sound from the TV speakers is cut.

4.Press the ￿ button to complete the set- tings.

The menu disappears.

4.Press the ￿buttons to choose TV SPEAKER. Then press the ￿buttons to choose CENTRE.

OFF or L/C/R

OFF is used to cut sound from the TV speakers. L/C/R is used to issue all the sound from the TV speakers.

5.Press the ￿ button to complete the set- tings.

The menu disappears.

Note:

Use the Amplifier volume to control and set volume of the Front speakers to the optimum for the TV speakers.

When the sound quality of the Audio system is pref- erable to the TV’s speakers, you can set the TV SPEAKER to OFF to cut the sound of the TV speak- ers.
