Playing Discs-basic play

Notes:

If “ ” appears on the TV, the operation is prohibited by the unit or disc.

When the unit is first turned on and there is a disc loaded, it may start playing automatically.

When the whole disc has finished playing, the unit automatically stops. Some discs show a menu screen.

The disc keeps rotating when showing a still picture (pausing).

Pressing [6]/[: ] or [ 5]/[ 9] may take you to a menu screen depending on the disc or the portion played (e.g. Video CDs).

[VCD] You cannot move backwards during slow-motion and frame-by-frame.

Each press or hold [6] or [ 5] accelerates the search or the slow-motion speed in 5 steps. Slow-motion and frame-by-frame only work on moving pictures.

When a menu screen appears on the TV [DVD-V][VCD]

Press the numeric buttons to select the desired item.

Example: “03”; [3]

“10”; [S10]l[1]l[0]

You can also use [3421] to select items. Press [ENTER] to confirm your selection.

¬To revert to the menu screen Press [MENU] (PLAY LIST).

¬To show the top menu

Press [TOP MENU].

Notes:

Many Video CDs with playback control display a menu on the TV when played back. “PBC” is displayed in the unit’s display.

The operation may differ depending on the disc. Read the disc’s instructions for further details about operation.

Discs continue to rotate while menus are displayed.

Press [] when you have finished viewing to preserve the unit’s motor and your TV screen.

Position Memory

[DVD-V[ [RAM[ [VCD] [CD] [MP3] [WMA]: When the elapsed play time is displayed. [JPEG]

Memorize positions on up to 5 different discs to restart play after turning off or changing discs.

[1] During play, press [P.MEMORY].

Press again to replace the position.

Flashes as you memorize a position.

DVD Operations

[2] Turn off the unit or remove the disc.

[3] Turn on the unit or set a disc for which the position is memorized and press [1] (PLAY).

Play starts from the memorized position and the position is cleared. When playing DVD-Video, see Chapter Review (l below).

Notes:

If you set up 6 positions or more, the oldest position memory is replaced.

This function may not work while playing some DVDs or play lists on DVD-RAM.

Chapter Review

[DVD-V]

When the Resume function is active, you can review the first few seconds of each chapter previously played.

When “ ” in the unit’s display flashes, the message appears by pressing [ 1] (PLAY) once.

Press [1] (PLAY) again.

After reviewing the chapters up to the one where you memorized the position, play resumes from that position.

¬To clear the position Press [].

Notes:

If you do not press [ 1] (PLAY), the message disappears and play starts from where you press [] or [P.MEMORY].

The position is also cleared when you turn the unit off, select another source or open the disc tray. This is operative only in the current title.
