If you have ever wanted to watch TV without commercials, then COMMERCIAL ADVANCE is for you. The first step is to mark groups of commercials while recording a TV show.

1Open “Initial Setup” menu

With the VCR in Stop or Play mode, press the SETUP button.

2Select “VCR”

Use the / buttons to highlight “VCR”, then press ENTER to select.

3Select “Commercial Advance”

Use the / buttons to highlight “Commercial Advance”, then press ENTER to select.

4Set “Mark Commercials”

Use the / buttons to highlight “Mark Commercials”, then press the button to select from the following options:

Yes - The VCR will automatically mark commercials during recording.

No - The VCR will not mark commercials during recording.

5Record from TV

Insert a videotape in the VHS deck and record a TV show using one of the three basic methods:

Basic Recording; see page 56.

One Touch Recording; see page 58.

Timer Recording; see page 59.

6Stop Recording

Press STOP or allow the preset recording time to run out; e.g., One Touch Recording and Timer Recording both have preset recording times.

7Confirm or Cancel

When recording is stopped, the VCR will alert you that “The VCR will begin marking commercials in 59 seconds...”. No action is required to mark the commercials on the recording. Simply wait 59 seconds for the timer to count down. To cancel, press STOP after the countdown finishes and commercials will not be marked.

COMMERCIAL ADVANCE is a trademark of SRT, Inc. A Jerry Iggulden invention licensed in association with Arthur D. Little Enterprises, Inc.

8Mark Commercials

When the 59 seconds have elapsed, the VCR will rewind to the start of the recording, and then search forward and mark groups of commercials. This process takes approximately 15 minutes for every hour of recorded tape. The VCR will stop when finished. To watch your tape without commercials, rewind the tape and proceed to Skipping Commercials on the following page.
