VCP FUNCTIONS

Time Search

This feature allows you to go to a specific point on a cassette tape by entering the exact amount of time you wish to skip in order to reach the point.

1Press [TAPE] first.

2Press [SEARCH] repeatedly until “TIME SEARCH” screen appears.

3Use [K / L] to select the desired length of time to fast forward or to rewind.

You can set the time up to 9:59.

4Press [B] to fast forward. Press [s] to rewind.

The playback will start automatically when it reaches the selected point.

Note

Press [C (stop)] to stop the search.

If the end of the cassette tape is reached during search, this unit will cancel the search and rewind the cassette tape.

Automatic rewind:

When a cassette tape is played back or fast forwarded to its end, the cassette tape will rewind to the beginning, stop and eject itself.

Auto repeat:

When auto repeat is on, the tape will rewind to its beginning when it reaches its end and start over from the beginning automatically.

To activate auto repeat:

Press [REPEAT] in stop mode.

“AUTO REPEAT B” appears, and auto repeat playback will start automatically.

To cancel the auto repeat: Press [REPEAT] again. “PLAY B” appears.

• You can check the auto repeat status by pressing [DISPLAY] during playback:

When auto repeat is off, “PLAY B” appears.

When auto repeat is on, “AUTO REPEAT B” appears.

When you playback a cassette tape recorded in Hi-Fi stereo:

Press [AUDIO] repeatedly to select Hi-Fi or MONO for playback sound mode.

If you have connected a stereo TV to this unit, select “HIFI”.

If you have connected a monaural TV to this unit, select “MONO”.

Other Operations

Press [TAPE] first.

To fast forward: Press [D (forward)].

To fast rewind: Press [E (reverse)].

To cue or review picture during playback (picture search):

Press [E (reverse)] or [D (forward)] during playback. Press it again and the unit will search in super high speed. (in the SLP mode only)

To freeze the picture on the TV screen during playback (still mode):

Press [F (pause)]. Each time you press the button, the picture will be forwarded by one frame.

If the picture begins to vibrate vertically during the still mode, stabilize the picture by pressing [TRACKING /+]. If the picture is distorted or rolling vertically, adjust the vertical hold control on your TV, if equipped.

To reset the counter:

Press [CLEAR] to reset the counter to “0:00:00”.

To play back in slow motion:

Press [F (pause)] during playback, then press [D (forward)].

Press [D (forward)] or [E (reverse)] repeatedly during slow motion playback to select the desired speed.

Note

Still/slow mode will stop after 5 minutes to prevent damage to the cassette tape and the video heads.

To return to playback from the picture search/still/ slow mode, press [B (play)].
