General Explanation of

On-Screen Display

This manual gives basic instructions for operating the recorder. Some DVDs require specific operation or allow only limited operation during playback. When this occurs, the symbol appears on the TV screen, indicating that the operation is not permitted by the recorder or is not available on the disc.

Displaying Information While Watching TV

During viewing the TV, press DISPLAY to display/remove the information displayed on-screen.

Indicates channel number, station name, and audio signal (STEREO, MONO) received by the tuner.

Using the On-Screen Display

The On-Screen Display contains many playback features. To see the On-Screen Display, press DISPLAY while a disc is playing. The On-Screen Display appears across the top of the screen. Each feature is illustrated with an icon. Use the

v/ V / b / B buttons to move through the different icons in the On-Screen Display.

When an icon is highlighted, use the v / V buttons to scroll through the choices displayed in the text box under the icons.

The On-Screen Display features are only available if the disc was created with that particular feature (i.e., if you select the Subtitle icon, you won’t be able to change the subtitle language unless the author of the disc created the disc with subtitles). You can display various information about the disc loaded on-screen.

For details about each item, see the pages in parentheses.
