3.Repeatedly press CHANNEL or CHAN-

NEL to set the start hour. Then press VOLUME . The start minute flashes.

Note: If you set an earlier start hour than the current hour, the Model 28 automati- cally changes the today timer’s date to the next day.

4.Repeatedly press CHANNEL or CHAN-

NEL to set the start minute. Then press VOLUME . AM or PM flashes.

5.Repeatedly press CHANNEL to set AM or PM. Then press VOLUME . The cursor moves to the END TIME line.

6.Repeat Steps 3-5 to set the end hour and minute. The current channel number flashes.

7.Repeatedly press CHANNEL or CHAN-

NEL to select the channel number. Then press VOLUME . The current tape speed flashes.

8.Repeatedly press CHANNEL or CHAN-

NEL to select the tape speed (SP, LP, or

SLP).

9.Press VOLUME , then double-check all the set information.

If it is correct, press MONITOR.

If an entry is not correct, repeatedly press VOLUME to move to the incor- rect entry, use the buttons on the front of the Model 28 to enter the correct infor- mation, then press MONITOR.

10.Press POWER to turn off the Model 28. The TIMER REC indicator turns on to indicate that the Model 28 is in the timer standby mode.

Important:

You can turn on and operate the Model 28 manually prior to the set start time, but the Model 28 makes a today timer recording only if the power is off at the set start time.

Be sure the TIMER REC indicator turns on when you turn off the Model 28. If it does not, check your programming.

If you set up the Model 28 to record a CATV program through a cable box, be sure to leave the cable box turned on and tuned to the correct channel before the timer pro- gram starts.

Checking/Changing the Today Timer

1.Press POWER to turn on the Model 28.

2.Press MONITOR. The today timer program screen appears on the TV screen.

3.Double-check all the set information.

If it is correct, press MONITOR.

If an entry is not correct, repeatedly

press VOLUME to move to the incor- rect entry, repeatedly press CHANNEL and CHANNEL to enter the correct information, then press MONITOR.

4.Press POWER to turn off the Model 28. The TIMER REC indicator turns on.

Clearing the Today Timer

1.Press POWER to turn on the Model 28.

2.Press MONITOR to display the today timer program screen.

If the timer recording is already in progress, press MONITOR then STOP/EJECT.

3.Press VOLUME . The Model 28 clears the set today timer program.

4.Press MONITOR to exit the screen.
