Switching off the demo

• Default setting: DEMO ON

This unit has an automatic demo feature that starts when the unit is plugged in for the first time. Here’s how to turn it off:

1Switch the system into standby.

2Press SYSTEM SETUP (SHIFT+DVD SETUP).

3Use the / buttons to select DEMO mode (Default setting: DEMO ON).

The current setting is shown in the display.

4Use the / buttons to select DEMO OFF then press ENTER to confirm.

After setting the clock, the demo mode switches off automatically.

Dimming the display

Press DIMMER (SHIFT+9) to alternate between brightness levels on the display.

Changing the frequency step

Not applicable to the European model.

Default setting (U.S. model): AM 10k

Default setting (all other models): AM 9k

If you find that you can’t tune into stations successfully, the frequency step may not be suitable for your country/region. Here’s how to switch the setting:

1Switch the system into standby.

2Press SYSTEM SETUP (SHIFT+DVD SETUP).

3Use the / buttons to select AM 9k / AM 10k.

The current setting is shown in the display.

4Use the / buttons to select AM 9k or AM 10k then press ENTER to confirm.

Setting the TV format

Not applicable to the U.S. model.

Default setting (European model): PAL

Default setting (all other models): AUTO

The default setting of this unit is AUTO, and unless you notice that the picture is distorted when playing some discs, you should leave it set to AUTO.

If you experience picture distortion with some discs, set the TV system to match your country or region.

1Switch the system into standby.

2Press SYSTEM SETUP (SHIFT+DVD SETUP).

3Use the / buttons to select TV system (Default setting: AUTO).

The current TV format is shown in the display.

4Use the / buttons to select either AUTO, PAL, or NTSC then press ENTER to confirm.

Resetting the unit

Use this procedure to reset all the player’s settings to the factory default.

1Switch the player into standby.

2Press and hold down the 7 (stop) button on the front panel until the unit switches on (about 8 seconds).

All the player’s settings are now reset, and you should see the ‘Let’s Get Started’ screen.
