An iPod™ can be connected to the DVA-9861 by using the proprietary ALPINE FULL SPEED™ Connection Cable (KCE-422i). When the DVA-9861 is connected by using the cable, the controls on the iPod™ are not functional.

About iPod™ usable with this unit

The unit can be used with third generation and above iPod™, iPod™ photo, iPod™ mini or iPod™ nano. iPod™ Shuffle cannot be used, however.

Touch wheel or scroll wheel type iPods without the dock connector cannot be connected to the unit.

The unit can be used with the following iPod versions. Correct function of earlier versions cannot be guranteed.

Third generation iPod: Ver. 2.3

Forth generation iPod: Ver 3.0.2

iPod photo: Ver.1.1

iPod mini: Ver. 1.3

iPod nano: Ver. 1.0

The unit cannot be used with the software versions earlier than 2005- 02-22. For details about “iPod Software Update,” refer to the iPod Instruction Manual.

Playback

1Press SOURCE/POWER to switch to the IPOD mode.

2Press or to select the desired song.

Return to the beginning of the current song:

Press .

Fast backward:

Press and hold .

Advance to the beginning of the next song:

Press .

Fast forward:

Press and hold .

3To pause playback, press / .

Pressing / again will resume playback.

If a song is playing on the iPod when it is connected to the DVA-9861, it will continue playing after the connection.

Searching for a desired Song

An iPod can contain hundreds of songs. By keeping these songs organized in playlists, the DVA-9861 can use these to ease song searches.

Searching by Playlist

1Press to activate the search selection mode.

2Turn the Rotary encoder to select the PLAYLIST search mode, then press .

PLAYLIST ARTIST ALBUM SONG PLAYLIST

3*1 Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired

Playlist.

4Press / .

The selected Playlist is played back.

To search for a song in the selected playlist

1After selecting the playlist in step 3*1, press to change to the song search mode of the selected playlist.

2Turn the Rotary encoder to select a song and press MODE.

The selected song is played back.

While in the search mode, if you press and hold for at least 2 seconds, or no operation is performed for 10 seconds, the search mode is canceled.

While in the search mode, pressing FUNC. will return to the previous mode.

All songs in the iPod are played back by selecting the stored “iPod name” in step 3*1.

Playlist search cannot be made during M.I.X. play.

In the search mode, you can jump to an assigned position by pressing any one of buttons 1 through 6 for quick search purposes. For details, refer to “Direct Search Function” (page 46).

“NO SONG” will be displayed if there are no songs in the selected playlist in the PLAYLIST search mode.

Searching by artist name

1Press to activate the search selection mode.

2Turn the Rotary encoder to select the ARTIST search mode, then press .

The selected Artist song is played back.

To search for an album of the selected artist

1After selecting the artist in step 3*2, press to change to the album search mode of the selected artist.

3Press the / to play back all songs of the selected album.
