Note for connecting the speaker cords to the receiver
Remove about 10 mm of insulation at the end of the cord, then twist the exposed wires. Connect the stripped ends of the cords to the terminals, taking care to avoid mutual contact between the cords.
Make sure the cords are firmly connected to the speaker and receiver terminals.

After connecting all the components, speakers, and AC power cord (mains lead), output a test tone to check that all the speakers are connected correctly. For details on outputting a test tone, see page 27.
If no sound is heard from a speaker while outputting a test tone, or a test tone is output from a speaker other than the one currently displayed on the front panel display, the speaker may be

•Be sure to match the speaker cord to the appropriate terminal on the components: 3 to 3, and # to #. If the cords are reversed, the sound will be distorted and will lack bass.
•If you use front speakers with low maximum input rating, adjust the volume carefully to avoid excessive output on the speakers.
•When connecting the stripped ends of the speaker cords, make sure the ends do not touch each other or neighbouring terminals.
