Picture Search Options

The most basic way to search during playback is using the forward and reverse functions. This section contains several other options available for searching a tape.

Search features work well for tapes recorded at the SP or SLP speed.

Forward and Reverse Search

You can search a tape during play. Sound is turned off during picture search. Search works best for tapes recorded at the SP or SLP speed.

1.During playback, press FORWARD (FWD) to search forward or REVERSE (REV) to search in reverse.

2.Press FORWARD (FWD) or REVERSE (REV) again or press PLAY (PLAY•PAUSE) to return to normal playback.

Slow Motion

You can view a tape during play pause using slow motion.

1.Press FORWARD or REVERSE (FWD or REV) to begin slow- motion playback.

2.Use TRACKING up or down to remove any streaks from the picture.

3.Press PLAY (PLAY•PAUSE) to return to normal playback.

The VCR switches automatically from slow-motion playback to stop after a few minutes.

Commercial Scan (Search Button)

This is useful for skipping commercials or short program segments.

Press SEARCH on the remote once during playback to advance the tape approximately 30 seconds of recorded material.

Each press of the SEARCH button adds an additional 30 seconds up to five minutes.

Insert Tape

Remember to insert a recorded tape when using the search features.
