For landscapes including an expanSe of sky, tilt the camera downward during measurement and lock the reading to prevent underexposure caused by the brightness of the sky. For backlit subjects, move up close and include dark areas of the subject and freeze the reading with the memory lock. Even when the lever has locked the memory system, the black needle insid e th e viewfinder conti nues to deflect accordi ng to the brightness of the scene, providing a convenient reference for contrast ratios.
