Q:Why can’t I focus the camera properly?
A:While this camera has a precise auto focus mechanism, this mechanism may not work well under the conditions and with the subjects described below:
•Subjects moving at high speed
•Very shiny subjects such as a mirror or car body
•Subjects with extremely low contrast (such as subjects dressed in the same color as the background)
•When there are objects in front of or behind the subject (such as an animal in a cage or a person in front of a tree)
•Subjects with little reflection, such as hair or fur
•Subjects with no solidity, such as smoke or flames
•Subjects viewed through glass
In addition, on this camera the focus is usually set on the center of the frame. The focus is, however, set on the background if the subject is not at the center, for example, when shooting two people standing side by side. In such cases, you may try the following:
1)Point the camera so that one of the persons is at the center of the viewfinder.
2)Press the shutter button half way down. (The camera is focused on the person.)
