Messages

This menu allows you to create, send, read and save messages with the Short Message Service (SMS: text message) and Enhanced Message Service(EMS: message including image, animation or melody). Voice mails are also available.

Note: Some of these features are only available if your service provider’s network supports it. Contact your service provider for more information.

Inbox and Outbox share a given amount of memory in your phone or SIM card. When the message memory is full, the New Message icon () blinks and an error message displays. (It disappears when

you press the key, but it reappears if you don’t delete old messages.) In this case, you cannot receive any new messages. You must delete one or more old messages to make room for new messages using the Delete option within Inbox or Outbox or the Delete all option; for further details, see page 73.

Inbox (Menu 1.1)

Your phone receives incoming messages and saves them in an Inbox. SMS and EMS messages are usually saved in the SIM card, but if the SIM memory is full, the incoming messages will be saved in the phone’s memory.

When you receive a new message, the icon and a text notification showing the number of messages appears on the display. You also hear an alert, depending on the message sound setting; for further details, see page 80.
