The secret to great family shots is to try and capture everyone interacting together

Trying to be a bit more creative with your group shots can yield more pleasing results. Getting the group to interact in some way, even taking them to a location that makes that interaction possible, say a woodland, park or garden, adds an extra dimension – and they don’t all have to be looking at the camera. Keep your composition tight around your group to avoid distracting backgrounds and why not ask them to wear clothes that will add a splash of colour. When posing, don’t just line them up, get your subjects at different levels and heights – perhaps use

a tree or fence if outdoors, or the back of a

36sofa or the stairs if at home.

To shoot a wide group of

people in the Panoramic37 mode half press the shutter

and slowly sweep the camera horizontally across the group.

Use the NX’s Face Detection mode to perfectly focus and expose up to ten faces in your picture.

DON’T FORGET: ADD A LITTLE FLASH

If there is contrasty light on faces use the Flash to even out the shadows and highlights, and give eyes a pleasing sparkle.
