Now the next song we will hear is of the Rock genre. Since we are not changing the genre, the current song will continue until it is finished playing. If we were to change genres to Blues, then the first Blues song would begin playing.

Other Notes

Voice Prompting

When changing modes, the PhatBox will announce which mode it is entering. This will help you as you learn the functions of the buttons on the head unit. After using the PhatBox SSA interface for a period of time and the functions of the buttons are memorized, you can disable this voice prompting in the Features Mode. The voice that announces the album, artist and genre cannot be disabled.

Random Play

Some head units have a Random button (usually labeled “RDM” or “MIX”). If you press the Random button, the next track is picked randomly from the current list of tracks, or from the entire cartridge. These two options can be chosen via the Features Menu (mode 6).

The Album Sort Order

When in Album mode, albums are sorted first by artist name then by album name. For example, consider the table below. It is sorted alphabetically by album name without regard to the artist name.

If a user were listening to album #3 “Beats and Rhymes” by the artist Blender, it would be difficult to find out that the other album by the same artist -- “Straight Up” -- is also present in the database.
