To alleviate this, the SSA album mode sorts by artist first, then alphabetically sorts by album name. Our example now looks like this:
Artist Name | Album | Album Name |
| Number |
|
Beth Jones | 1 | The Best of Beth Jones |
Blender | 2 | Beats and Rhymes |
Blender | 3 | Straight Up |
DJ Freddy | 4 | Mix It Up |
Express Mail | 5 | This is Express |
Grand Prix | 6 | Award Time! |
Mobile Army | 7 | Digitize This |
Rick's Jamhouse | 8 | Rockin Boots |
Rick's Jamhouse | 9 | Sunday Night |
The Gangles | 10 | Don't Know Why |
Various Artists | 11 | Best of Classical |
Seeking
The seek operation is similar to a CD player: while listening to a song, a seek will forward or rewind to another part of the song. Stopping the seek operation will resume playback.
When seeking in Artist or Genre modes, letters of the alphabet are announced. This allows you to quickly find an artist or genre alphabetically.
When seeking in Album mode, artist names are announced (since albums are sorted first by artists).
Note that the seeking operation is different from the track change operation. On some radios, seeking is performed by holding the track button down. On other radios there is a separate seek button; holding the track button down performs the same action as pressing the track button just once. To distinguish between the two actions, we use the following notation:

Track backwards
Track forwards
