Setting the system through the display window

You can adjust the sound and speaker settings of this system through the display window.

You can adjust the sound setting of front speakers (“BAL,” “BASS,” and “TREBLE”) for each source.

The adjustments of the speaker size, speaker distance, “LFE ATT,” “CROSS,” and “D. COMP” take effect for all sources.

IMPORTANT:

When using the remote control, check to see if

its remote control mode selector is set to the

RDS

correct position:

 

Set it to “DVD” to use other than RDS.

Before you start, remember...

There is a time limit in doing the following steps. If the setting is cancelled before you finish, start from step 1 again.

When selecting DVD, AUX, or AUX DIGITAL as the source, the settings of the corresponding items in the choice menus also change.

The item you last selected appears on the display window.

Example: “BAL” has been selected.

Each time you press the button, the items shown on the display window change as follows:

BAL (Balance):

Adjust the balance between the left and right front speakers. (See page 63.)

BASS, TREBLE:

Adjust the enhancement level for bass or treble sound from the front speakers. (See page 63.)

FRNT SP (front speakers), CNTR SP (center speaker), REAR SP (rear speakers):

Select the size of each speaker. (See page 64.)

FRNT D (front speakers distance), CNTR D (center speaker distance), REAR D (rear speakers distance):

Set the distance from the listening position to the speakers. (See page 65.)

CROSS (CROSS OVER):

Select the cutoff frequency of the subwoofer according to the front speakers used with this system.

LFE ATT.:

Diminish the distortion of the bass sound from the subwoofer while playing back a disc with Dolby Digital or DTS Digital Surround. (See page 63.)

D.COMP (D. RANGE COMPRESSION):

Enjoy a powerful sound at night even at a low volume level when listening to the sound with Dolby Digital. (See page 63.)

3 Press Cursor 2/3 to make an adjustment.

BASS, TREBLE:

Within the range between –10 to +10 (by 2 step)

FRNT SP, CNTR SP, REAR SP:

“SML” (small) “LRG” (large) “NO” (none) (“NO” is not selectable for the front speakers.)

FRNT D, CNTR D, REAR D:

Within the range between 0.3 m and 9.0 m. (by 0.3 m step)

CROSS:

“200 Hz” “150 Hz” “120 Hz” “100 Hz” “80 Hz”

LFE ATT.: “ON” “OFF”

D.COMP:

“MID” “MAX” “OFF”

4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 to set other items.

NOTES:

If you have selected “SML” for the front speakers, you cannot select “LRG” for the center and rear speakers.

You can confirm your adjustment of speaker settings by listening to the test tone. To output the test tone, press SOUND, then TEST. (See page 39.)
