14. RAISING THE MAST

CAUTION:BEFORE RAISING THE MAST,

BE SURE THE AREA IS FREE OF

OVERHEAD POWER LINES. SHOULD THE MAST COME IN CONTACT WITH AN OVERHEAD POWER LINE THE RESULTS COULD BE FATAL.

14.1Secure the trapeze wires to the bottom of the mast so they will be out of the way when raising the mast.

14.2Attach the jib halyard line to each end of the jib halyard wire to form a very large loop.

14.3Place the mast base over the mast step ball located on the front crossbar and insert the mast step pin through the entire assembly. The pin should be visible on the opposite side of the mast base. Secure the pin with clevis ring. (FIGURE 24)

14.4Attach the bridles to the furler...then attach the furler to the forestay.

Note: If the mast has to be laid down before raising, support it below the COMPTIP and forward of the tiller crossbar assembly.

The halyard line must be connected to the halyard wire before the mast is raised, or you will lose access to it when the mast is raised. (FIGURE 23)
