SECTION 3—CLEANING AND DISINFECTING

Following the cleaning instructions after each use will prevent any remaining medication in the nebulizer cup from drying and causing the device to nebulize ineffectively.

It is recommended that the nebulizer, mouthpiece and mask be thoroughly rinsed with hot tap water after each use and cleaned with a mild detergent after the last treatment of the day. The same pieces MUST also be disinfected daily by soaking in a vinegar/water solution or a commercially available disinfectant. If your physician or respiratory therapist specifies a different cleaning procedure, follow their instructions.
