requires a modular phone jack (RJ11C) and a standard 120V AC wall outlet. Place this telephone on a stable surface. Serious damage and/or injury may result if the telephone falls.

NOTE: Install the base away from electronic equipment such as personal computers, television sets or microwave ovens. Avoid excessive heat, cold, dust or moisture.

Installing Modular Phone Line & AC adapter

This section is a reference guide to the basic installation of your cordless telephone.

1.Plug one end of the supplied modular telephone line cord in the jack located on the bottom side of the telephone base (See diagram #5).

2.Plug the modular telephone line cord’s other end into a modular phone jack in the wall.

3.Insert the supplied AC adapter’s plug into the jack (12V DC 500mA) located on the bottom of the telephone base. Plug the adapter into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet. Make sure that the AC adapter is inserted completely into the base unit plug.

4.NOTE: Place the handset in the base after following the Battery Installation directions that follow.

CAUTION: Always connect the AC adapter to the phone before you plug it into the AC power outlet. To disconnect your phone, first disconnect the AC adapter from the wall outlet before you disconnect it from the phone base.

Telephone Handset Installation

The BellSouth A50 uses (3) AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries that are included with your unit. It charges automatically whenever the handset is in the base.

IMPORTANT! Only use AAA rechargeable batteries. DO NOT USE REGULAR ALKA-

LINE OR CARBON BATTERIES!
