Using The Pause Feature For Dialing

The “R/P” button is used to insert a temporary pause during a dialing sequence. Program- ming in a pause will cause the phone to wait two (2) seconds before dialing additional numbers. This feature may be used when it is necessary to dial an access code (9, for example) and wait for a second dial tone before you can dial an outside number. Press the “R/P” button at the required point during the memory storage process to program a pause.

When dialing an international number for example (i.e. 011-555-55-555-5555), some tele- phone company systems will not register the entire number entry without a pause between the prefix numbers. You may have to dial 011- “R/P” button, dial 555- “R/P” button. This allows adequate timing for the phone number to register with the telephone company’s system and complete the call.
