Press MENU, then select [TEXT MESSAGE].
Select [WRITE SMS], then press [SELECT] to confirm.
Enter the PIN (if required), then press [OK] to confirm.
Enter the text, then press [OK].
Enter the phone number of the recipient, then press [OK] to confirm; or
Press MENU, select [PHONEBOOK].
Select a contact from the phonebook list, then press [SELECT].
Press [OK] to go to the next screen.

9 Text messages

•• Ensure you have subscribed the Caller ID and text message services before you enjoy the full benefit of this feature.

You can use the Short Messaging Service (SMS) to send text messages to the recipient, provided that the recipient has also subcribed the Caller ID and text message services.

Your phone can store up to 50 text messages (40 messages in the Inbox and 10 messages in the Draft box) which are shared by all the message boxes.The maximum length of each message is 160 characters.

Tip

•• For more information about how to enter text and number, see the section on Text and numbers.

Note

•• If you send a text message to a mobile phone, the SMS box number can be empty.

•• If the text message is not sent succesfully, [SMS NOT SENT!] is displayed and the text message is saved in the SMS editor buffer.

•• When you write your text message, the handset returns to stand-by mode if no key is pressed for 30 seconds. The message is saved in the message editor buffer.

Inbox

The messages in the inbox are listed in chronological order with the most recent call on top.The Inbox can store up to 40 messages. You hear a beep every time when a new message is received.The screen displays the number of new messages received.The event LED flashes until the message is read.

•• No new message can be received if the message box is full. Delete some old messages in order to receive new ones.
