42)This device performs occasional self-maintenance that may generate noise temporarily, even when the device is not in use. This is normal and is not a sign of malfunction. Also see item 47, at right.

Cleaning

Follow these recommendations and precautions when cleaning the device.

Always unplug the device’s power cord before

cleaning. Failure to follow this WARNING may result in death or serious injury.

44)Clean only with soft, dry cloth. Never use liquid, aerosol, or ammonia-based cleaners; abrasive powder; or solvents (such as thinner, benzine, or alcohol) to clean the device. Such cleaners and solvents may discolor or damage the device.

45)Occasionally clean the dust from the ventilation slots in the device’s case to ensure adequate ventilation.

Service

Never attempt to service the device yourself.

Opening and removing the covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Failure to follow this WARNING may result in death or serious injury. Refer all servicing to a Toshiba Authorized Service Station.

47)The internal hard disk drive in this device has a limited service life. If unexpected errors occur repeatedly or the device makes persistent noise, the hard disk drive may need servicing or replacement. Refer all servicing to a Toshiba Authorized Service Station.

48)This device contains lead, an ingredient of solder used on the PCB, which is a harmful substance to humans and the environment. When disposing of this device, follow the rules and regulations in your area or ask a qualified service technician to dispose of it properly.
