Digital Private Line | A type of coded squelch using data bursts. |
(DPL) | Similar to PL except a digital code is used |
| instead of a tone. |

Digital Signal | An RF signal that has a pulsed, or discrete |
| nature, rather than a continuous nature. |

Dispatcher | An individual who has radio system |
| management duties. |
|
|
Dynamic | A feature that allows the dispatcher to |
Regrouping | temporarily reassign selected radios to a |
| single special channel so they can |
| communicate with each other. |

Failsoft | A feature that allows communications to take |
| place even though the central controller has |
| failed. Each trunked repeater in the system |
| will transmit a data word informing every radio |
| that the system has gone into failsoft. |

FCC | Federal Communications Commission. |

Hang Up | Disconnect. |

Home Display | The first display information after the radio |
| completes its self test. |

LCD | Liquid Crystal Display. |

Monitor | Check channel activity by pressing the |
| Monitor button. If the channel is clear, you will |
| hear static. If the channel is in use, you will |
| hear conversation. It also serves as a way to |
| check the volume level of the radio, as the |
| radio will “open the squelch” when pressing |
| the monitor button. |
