Change settings

Balance

You can adjust the balance of the front speakers.

1Press [SHIFT]+[CH SEL] to select “L” or “R”.

2Press [/, -].

When testing signal, you can also adjust the “L” or “R” balance of the front right and left speakers by pressing [/, -].

Super Surround

VK90D VK80D

Add surround effects to stereo sound.

Press [SHIFT]+[S.SRND].

Each time you press the button:

MUSICMOVIESTEREO SOUND

MUSIC: Adds surround effects to stereo sources.

MOVIE: Use this mode when playing movie software.

You can adjust the volume of the surround speakers to get the best surround effect (A page 28, Speaker level adjustments).

Note

Turn Super Surround off when playing a DVD recorded with Dolby Digital or DTS. The surround effects will not be reproduced correctly if this is left on.

Dolby Pro Logic (A page 28) switches off.

Advanced Surround

VK70D

RAMDVD-VVCD

Enjoy a surround-like effect when using 2 front speakers (SP) or headphones (HP). The effect broadens when playing discs with surround effects and sound seems to come from speakers on either side of you.

Press [ADVANCED SURROUND].

Each time you press the button:

ADV SURR 1: Natural effect

ADV SURR 2: Emphasized effect

SURR OFF: Cancel (factory preset)

Use the Audio Menu (A page 24) to change the SP/HP mode.

Center Focus

VK90D VK80D

(Discs where the dialogue is recorded in the center channel)

You can make the sound of the center speaker seem like it is coming from within the television.

Press [SHIFT]+[C.F].

Each time you press the button:

CENTER FOCUS ←→

OFF

This does not work when Super Surround is turned on.

This will have less effect when Dolby Pro Logic is turned on.

Seat Position

VK90D VK80D

Using this function makes you feel like you are sitting in the ideal seating position (in the cen- ter of the circle formed by the speakers), even if you cannot due to the layout of your room.

During play

1Press [SHIFT]+[S.POS].

2Press [8, 9, /, -] to select a position.

LRecall the settings

The unit recalls the settings when you play the disc again.

Seating position

The settings are replaced if you change them.

When you store settings for a 31st disc, the earliest settings

disappear.

Press [SHIFT]+[CSM] while “CSM” is lit and the settings return to

 

those that were on before the settings are recalled.

 

Press [SHIFT]+[CSM] while “CSM” is out and you are playing a

disc for which you stored settings and those settings are recalled.
