Drill Chuck

The Drill Press chuck and arbor must be mount- ed in the drill press spindle. The arbor has a #6 Jacobs Taper on one end and a #2 Morse Taper on the other. The #6 Jacobs Taper fits into the drill chuck and the #2 Morse Taper fits in the drill press spindle. The arbor, drill chuck and drill press spindle fit together by friction fit. To mount the drill chuck on the drill press:

1.Thoroughly clean all of the shipping oil or cos- molene from both ends of the arbor, inside the drill chuck and the drill press spindle. Use mineral spirits and a rag.

2.Slide the arbor into the drill chuck and tap lightly with a soft hammer or block of wood.

3.Slide the arbor and chuck into the drill press spindle and turn it until the tang slips into the slot in the spindle.

4.While holding onto the drill chuck, tap lightly on the bottom of the chuck with a soft hammer or a block of wood. The drill chuck should now be quite snug in the drill press. If not, repeat steps 1-3, making sure all oil or cosmolene is removed.
