NOTE: The hard drive spare part kit does not include the hard drive connector cable, bracket, or screws. The hard drive connector cable is included in the Cable Kit, spare part number 646119-001. The hard drive bracket and screws are included in the Hard Drive Hardware Kit, spare part number 646122-001.

Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:

1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

4.Remove the battery (see Battery on page 40).

5.Remove the memory module/wireless module compartment cover (see Optical drive (select models only) on page 41).

Remove the hard drive:

1.Loosen the captive screw (1) that secures the hard drive compartment cover to the computer.
