Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:

1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

4.Remove the following components:

a.Battery (see Battery on page 40).

b.Service access cover (see Service access cover on page 43).

Remove the hard drive:

1.Lift the shield (1) that covers the hard drive connector on the system board.

2.Disconnect the hard drive connector cable (2) from the system board.

3.Remove the three Phillips 2.0×4.0 screws (3) that secure the hard drive to the computer.

4.Lift the shield (4) that covers the hard drive to allow removal of the drive.
