7Remove the slot cover by inserting a screwdriver into the opening and rocking gently. Insert the screwdriver under the top edge of the slot cover and press down.

8Hold the card by the top edge or upper corners, and position the board. Align the card with the card guides and firmly press the card into the expansion slot connector. (See the motherboard drawing on page 57 for location of expansion slots.)

9IDE hard disks and memory are configured automatically, as are Plug and Play cards; (see the next section, “What is Plug and Play?”).

10Replace the metal retaining plate.

11Replace the back of the computer and restart the computer.

What Is Plug and Play?

“Plug and Play” describes the ability to add and remove add-in cards, memory, and peripherals without any special procedures (like resetting jumpers and testing for system conflicts). Your system BIOS finds these components and adds them to the system. You do not have to run the BIOS Setup program.

If the New Card or Device Isn’t Working

Recheck all connections, including those to the board, power supply, keyboard, and display. If the problem still exists, run the BIOS Setup program and load the default settings; and then save and exit. (Refer to ”Using the BIOS Setup Program” on the next page.)
