Connecting the Monitor

Connecting the monitor includes steps for:

Connecting the video input cable to the computer by using a VGA cable or a DVI-D cable (DVI-D connector on select f monitor models only; DVI-D cable sold separately).

You can connect the VGA cable, the DVI-D cable, or both. Only one cable is connected for typical installations.

Connecting the audio cable. The f monitor steps include connecting the speaker DC power cable and an optional HP subwoofer (sold separately).

Connecting the power cord.

Refer to the figure for your monitor type in the illustrations that follow.

ÄCAUTION: Before connecting the monitor cables, turn off and unplug the computer and the monitor.

Connecting the Monitor Video Input Cable

Be sure the computer and monitor are off and unplugged.

To Connect the VGA Cable

Connect the VGA video cable to the monitor and to the video connector on the rear panel of the computer:

Connect one end of the 15-pin VGA cable to the VGA input connector on the monitor 1 (as shown in the following illustrations). The monitor may come with the VGA cable connected.

Then, connect the other end of the cable to the VGA output connector on the computer.
