maintain your hp digital copier

5 printer

This section provides instructions for keeping your HP Digital Copier Printer in top working condition. Perform these maintenance procedures as necessary.

clean the glass

Dirty glass from fingerprints, smudges, hair, and so on, slows down performance, decreases copy quality, and affects the accuracy of special features such as Poster or Fit to Page.

1Turn off the unit, unplug the power cord, and raise the lid.

2Clean the glass with a soft cloth or sponge slightly moistened with a nonabrasive glass cleaner.

Caution! Do not use abrasives, acetone, benzene, or carbon tetrachloride on the glass; these can damage it. Do not place liquids directly on the glass. They may seep under it and damage the unit.

3Dry the glass with a chamois or cellulose sponge to prevent spotting.

clean the adf glass

The small glass strip to the left of the main glass surface is for processing jobs fed from the ADF. Streaks can occur if the glass strip is dirty. Follow the same procedures for cleaning the glass strip as you would for cleaning the other glass.

clean the document backing

Minor debris can accumulate on the white document backing located underneath the unit’s lid.

1Turn off the unit, unplug the power cord, and raise the lid.

2Clean the white document backing with a soft cloth or sponge slightly moistened with a mild soap and warm water.
