Weather proof, finish and maintain

*Provide and maintain a properly installed cap or head flashing to protect top of surfaces from water damage. Remove tape and properly seal top flap of Weather Resistant Barrier over head flashing.

*Add insulation to air space between opening and unit.

*Caulk around entire unit or “weather” side: seal brickmould to siding or facing. Seal all joints between jambs and mouldings.

*Place and set galvanized finish nails through brickmould around perimeter or exterior grade screws if you will be installing a storm door that is attached to brickmould. Cover all countersunk fastners with an exterior-grade putty.

*Seal joints between exterior hardware trim and door face to prevent air and water infiltration.

*Paint or stain according to Therma-Tru instructions. Do not paint gasketing or weatherstrip. Weatherstrip maybe removed for easier painting or staining.

*Bare, unprotected wood will weather and degrade and change color. All bare wood surfaces exposed to weather should be primed and painted or stained and top coated within two weeks of exposure for best performance.

*Out-swing doors must have all edges, side, top and bottom - finished. Inspect and maintain these edges as regularly as all other surfaces.

*Maintain or replace sealants and finishes as soon as any deterioration is evident. For semi- gloss or glossy paints or clear coats, do this when the surface becomes dill or rough. More severe exposures will require more frequent maintenance.

*All Therma-Tru doors must be finished within 6 months of the installation date for continued warranty coverage.

*Follow our Finishing Instructions found in www.thermatru.com.
