while the power supply is plugged in. Remove

A

HD-SDI or SDI Input connector — Connect an HD-SDI or SDI

input to this BNC connector. The MDA automatically equalizes

input, regardless of the rate.

N The MDA 4V HD-SDI can handle SDI video at the

signal rate of 270 Mbps.

B

HD-SDI or SDI Outputs (1 through 4) connectors — Connect

up to four HD-SDI or SDI devices to these BNC connectors. If

the MDA recognizes the input rate, the MDA outputs re-clocked

HD-SDI or SDI outputs.

C

Power connector — Plug the external 12 VDC power supply

into this 2-pole captive screw connector. The power supply is

included with the unit. Figure 9, on the next page, shows how

to wire the connector.

C Voltage polarity is critical when you are connecting

the power supply. Applying power with incorrect

voltage polarity could damage the power supply and

the MDA. Identify the power cord negative lead by

the ridges on the side of the cord.

power before wiring.

CThe length of the exposed (stripped) copper wires is important. The ideal length is 5/16" (7 mm). Longer bare wires can short together. Shorter wires are not as secure in the connectors and could be pulled out.

Use the supplied tie-wrap to strap the power cord to the extended tail of the connector.

NYour MDA may have shipped with a blue captive screw connector. This blue connector can be plugged into either a blue or an orange power receptacle.

The blue connector does not have the extended tail or the included tie-wrap.

NDo not tin the power supply leads before installing them in the direct insertion connector. Tinned wires are not as secure in the connectors and could be pulled out.

Alternatively, an Extron P/S 123 Universal 12 VDC Power Supply, part #60-814-01, can power up to eight MDAs or other Extron 12 VDC devices using only one AC power connector.

MDA 4V SDI, MDA 4V HD-SDI specifications

Extron Electronics is a renowned provider of advanced AV system integration solutions. Among their standout products is the MDA 4V HD-SDI and MDA 4V SDI distribution amplifiers. These devices are designed to support high-quality video signal distribution for professional audio-visual applications, ensuring exceptional performance in a wide range of environments.

The MDA 4V HD-SDI and MDA 4V SDI amplifiers boast the ability to distribute multiple signals without degradation, maintaining the integrity and clarity of the video feed. Each model supports multiple input and output configurations, accommodating up to four separate channels. This is particularly beneficial in environments where several displays are used, such as broadcast studios, control rooms, and large venues.

One of the main features of the MDA 4V HD-SDI is its ability to handle HD-SDI signals up to 1.5 Gbps, allowing compatibility with various high-definition video formats. The MDA 4V SDI model, while optimized for standard-definition signals, also ensures a robust distribution system for legacy formats. Both units feature advanced equalization technology, which enhances signal integrity over longer distances, making them ideal for expansive setups.

Another significant characteristic of the MDA series is their built-in signal processing. This includes automatic monitoring of input and output signals, providing feedback on signal quality, and notifying operators of potential issues before they impact the AV experience. The amplifiers also include independent gain controls for each output channel, allowing for precise adjustments depending on the specific requirements of each display device.

The construction of these devices reflects Extron’s commitment to durability and reliability. They are housed in sturdy enclosures designed to withstand the rigors of professional use, with a compact form factor that facilitates easy installation. Additionally, all MDA 4V models are compatible with Extron's extensive range of control solutions, making them easier to integrate into existing AV systems.

In summary, the Extron MDA 4V HD-SDI and MDA 4V SDI distribution amplifiers offer a powerful solution for high-quality video distribution. With their exceptional signal handling capabilities, robust construction, and advanced equalization technology, these devices are an ideal choice for any professional AV environment seeking reliable and high-performance video distribution.
