Minerals that are removed from water during the freezing cycle will eventually form a hard scaly deposit in the water system. Cleaning the system regularly helps remove the mineral scale buildup. How often you need to clean the system depends upon how hard your water is or how effective your filtration may be. With hard water of 15 to 20 grains/gal. (4 to 5 grains/liter), you may need to clean the system as often as every 6 months.

1.Turn off power to the ice maker. Keep the ice maker connected to the water supply and drainpipe.

2.Open the door and scoop out all of the ice cubes. Either discard them or save them in an ice chest or cooler.

Control Box

3.Remove the 2 screws in the front cover and push for- ward to remove the front cover. Locate the control box. NOTES: Do not use too much force, as the wire leads connected to the power switch can be inadvertently disconnected.

Use care in the area of the control box. Do not expose it to moisture.

4.Turn on the power to the ice maker. Pour 8 oz. of

Nickel-Safe Ice Machine Cleaner solution into the water sump. Add 8 oz. of tap water. After about 5 minutes, press down the “Clean” button on the Control Box.

(See figures here and on page 24.) The machine will run the Automatic Clean Mode.
